Biographies

satellite

An ensemble with an ever-changing shape, Satellite always starts off from an intriguing central idea, and subsequently connects it with pieces that bring this theme to life. In 2024, Lia Manchón Martínez, Coline Meulemans and Marc Martín Nogueroles immerse themselves into rarely performed string trios by composers who suffered under totalitarian and destructive systems. Rather than by their difficult situation, Satellite is inspired by the unique way these composers shape universes full of light and energy. In the coming years, the ensemble will dive into the work of Johannes Brahms, alongside ongoing collaborations with various Belgian artists.

quatuor aeterna

With Sára Kovács on first violin, Chloé Phelps on second violin, Adrien Fonteneau on viola and Ombeline Gasnier on cello, the Quatuor Aeterna explores a broad range of artistic horizons. From string quartets by Felix Mendelssohn and Franz Schubert to more recent work by Hyacinthe Jadin and Zbigniew Bargielski, the four musicians present music that reflects their open-minded spirits and meets their desire to profoundly understand the unique language of each piece. Their selection for the outreach project of Bozar’s Ars Musica festival, the Génération Classique competition by Festivals de Wallonie, and the Festival Musiq3 in Flagey, among others, has proven to be a kickstart for these recently graduated musicians.

nereus quartet

Founded in 2021, the Nereus Quartet has since then developed its artistic fingerprint as a piano quartet that ventures both standard repertoire and lesser-known works. Following their training at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, the four musicians are now pursuing a master's degree in chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, where they continue their quest for a collective sound as an ensemble and deepen their understanding of music as an art of the present. The past years, Nereus Quartet has performed at renowned festivals such as Festival Midis-Minimes, Karreveld Classic Festival and Maritime Classique. In 2023, the ensemble made it to the Supernova finals.

Duo Altiler

With Duo Altiler, named after the tradition of meeting around a linden tree, violinist Veronique De Raedemaeker and pianist Alexander Declercq aim to incite new musical encounters. Besides classical masterpieces by, amongst others, Béla Bartók, Ludwig van Beethoven and Maurice Ravel, they also present rarely performed works. This way, they try to break musical conventions and celebrate music as an experiment with an uncertain outcome. Their quest has led to a selection for the Klara Twintigers in 2023, with a concert during Iedereen Klassiek in Concertgebouw Brugge and a concert at VRT's Toots Studios as the grand finale of this trajectory.
