Benjamin Glorieux
on the road with bach
Cellist Benjamin Glorieux plays all six Bach cello suites in one day. From playful to poetic, each suite has its own character, inspiring video artist Klaas Verpoest to create fresh visual presentations. But On the Road with Bach is more than a musical marathon. It is also the outcome of a week-long journey from Arnstadt to Lübeck. With his cello on his back, Glorieux followed the same route that Bach took 300 years ago, in order to hear his great hero Buxtehude play.

a score as a landscape
As part of this concert, Benjamin Glorieux went on a very special trip between 7 and 15 December. With his cello on his back, he braved the cold and literally followed in the footsteps of J.S. Bach, from Arnstadt to Lübeck. To the rhythm of Bach’s six cello suites, he collected impressions that will help shape his performance on 11 March. At the start of his walk, Klara presenter Olav Grondelaers gave Benjamin a call, and VRT NWS also made a short report. Enjoy the wonderful landscape.
