Paul Lewis
around the world with schubert
British pianist Paul Lewis’s recordings of Schubert’s piano sonatas are already legendary. “Every now and again a recording comes along that makes you want to dance in the street, handing out copies to complete strangers. This is one of those instances”, wrote the reviewer of Gramophone. Lewis is now embarking on a world tour performing all of Schubert’s sonatas. For Klarafestival, he has selected three diverse gems: the lyrical Sonata in A minor, D845; the unfinished Sonata in C major, D840; and the youthful, “Little” Sonata in A major, D664.
