With RAAS, violinist Ruth Mareen and guitarist Marie-Lou Debels immerse the listener in a sound world full of rhythm, energy and connection. From tango to gypsy swing, they bring folk music from all corners of the world to the festival grounds (Campo Solar), the classical stage (Muziekcentrum De Bijloke) and the living room. In 2025, the duo reached the finale of the Big Little Music Competition, and in 2021 they received the First and Special prize in the International Strings and Chamber Music Competition (Romania) and first prize in the Premier Music International Competition (Hungary). Their project Hart Beats, an inclusive festival for children with and without disabilities, was recognised with a (H)Arts in Society Award.
