Echo 2024
for professionals in the classical music scene
Unheard. Perspectives on Listening
What does listening mean today? In times in which attention is ever scarcer and the offering is wider and wider, Echo 2024 puts listening centre stage. The annual classical music sector day illuminates a variety of perspectives on listening. In which new ways can we explore classical music, whether we are in a traditional concert hall, in alternative presentation spaces, or at home? To what extent do contextual programmes and introductions support an understanding of the classical repertoire? What are the new presentation forms? Do we still listen to the radio, or are we only streaming now? How does a classical festival or a concert hall engage with the audience?
Echo 2024 kicks off with a State of the Youth talk by Mostafa Taleb, a Brussels-based Kamancheh player and composer with Iranian roots, who combines Western and Persian music in his practice. The British journalist and broadcaster (including on BBC Radio 3) Kate Molleson will conclude with a the State of the Union.
Join us in thinking, speaking and listening on Friday 22 March at DE SINGEL. The full programme will appear online in early March, along with the ticket link.
