Alexandre Kantorow
Keys to the Soul
Alexandre Kantorow's musical calling card is characterised by technical mastery and stylistic refinement. No wonder the French pianist has become a global star. During Klarafestival 2024, he already left an indelible impression as a soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
The recital with which he now returns descends into the human soul. Liszt wrote a poignant series of variations on the bass line of Bach's cantata Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen. Nikolai Medtner's haunting Sonata in F Minor proves that this composer was unjustly overshadowed by contemporaries such as Alexander Scriabin. Beethoven's intense Opus 111 and dreamy preludes by Chopin and Alkan round off this piano feast.
