Wouter Dewit has become the Belgian icon of neo-classical piano music. Since his track ‘La durée’ was added to the Peaceful Piano playlist in 2017, he’s turned into a Spotify sensation. Today, his name belongs alongside Nils Frahm, Jóhann Jóhannsson, and Joep Beving. Dewit’s music emerges from the twilight between improvisation and composition, with entrancing rhythms, ample room for sound and dynamics, and an occasional touch of swing – all of which make his work so beloved.

At this Piknik concert, Dewit presents a new album, marking his first collaboration with string players. ‘The beauty of instrumental music,’ says Dewit, ‘is that it expresses what I can’t put into words.’ Join us for a moment of wordless contemplation.
