Fabrizio Cassol
Fabrizio Cassol is a Belgian composer and saxophonist. In 1992, he founded the jazz trio Aka Moon, named after the Aka, a people in Central Africa whose music the trio studied intensively. Later, Cassol was also inspired by different musical cultures through collaborations with musicians such as Oumou Sangaré, Baba Sissoko, U.K. Sivaraman and Doudou N’Diaye Rose. Since 2015, he has led Medinea, a project of Festival d’Aix-en-Provence that brings together young musicians from the Mediterranean region. Cassol has also worked with artists including composer Philippe Boesmans, director Luc Bondy and choreographers Faustin Linyekula, Alain Platel and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
