After a first residency at De Vaartkapoen in 2025, Sound of Brussels Orchestra expanded from eight to ten musicians. From 20 to 23 August, they explored the following question during a new residency at AB: What does Europe's most cosmopolitan city sound like?

Together they create an entirely new repertoire, without relying on scores or a fixed organisational structure. Drawing on their diverse practices, they introduce musical ideas as a starting point for further improvisation and dialogue. With listening, openness and respect as their guiding principles: no leader taking the upper hand, no small groups splitting off. New musical worlds are collectively explored and pieced together like a puzzle. The result? Music rooted in every corner of the city, and far beyond.
