Sound of Brussels Orchestra in residency at AB
Discover the unique sound of Brussels during Car-Free Sunday
After a first residency at De Vaartkapoen in 2025, Sound of Brussels Orchestra expands from eight to ten musicians. From 20 to 23 August, they will be exploring the following question during a new residency at AB: What does Europe's most cosmopolitan city sound like?
Together they create an entirely new repertoire, without relying on scores or a fixed organisational structure. Drawing on their diverse practices, they introduce musical ideas as a starting point for further improvisation and dialogue. With listening, openness and respect as their guiding principles: no leader taking the upper hand, no small groups splitting off. New musical worlds are collectively explored and pieced together like a puzzle. The result? Music rooted in every corner of the city, and far beyond.
Brussels-based multi-talents
This remarkable orchestra brings together Brussels-based multi-talents from a wide range of backgrounds: Alejandra Borzyk (saxophone), Akram Ben Romdhane (oud), Aquiles Navarro (trumpet), Aya Suzuki (percussion), Imane Guemssy (voice, guembri), Kaito Winse (voice, flute, percussion), Louise van den Heuvel (bass), Mostafa Taleb (kamancheh), Simon Leleux (percussion) and Vitja Pauwels (guitar). Saxophonist and composer Fabrizio Cassol and cellist Adèle Viret guide the process.
