Thank you, Joost!
Jan Van den Borre and Jannah Van Nevel Jan take the lead
For seven years, Klarafestival was a second ‘home’ for intendant Joost Fonteyne. In April, he
continues his journey, passing the torch to Jan Van den Borre and Jannah Van Nevel. Going
forward, they will lead the festival in tandem: Van den Borre as General and Artistic Director,
and Van Nevel as Business Director.
‘It has been a privilege to lead Klarafestival. Over the past few years, the festival has grown
into a multi-voiced meeting place, where audiences engage in dialogue with musicians who
often make centuries-old music relevant again today. My heartfelt thanks go to all the artists,
the audience, the partners, Klara, and last but not least, the wonderful team. I’m curious to
see how General and Artistic Director Jan Van den Borre, Business Director Jannah Van
Nevel, and the team will shape the future of this extraordinary festival.’
From 2022 to 2025, Jan Van den Borre charted an adventurous course as Artistic Director of
MA Festival, introducing innovative projects within early music. Following a career as a flautist
with ensembles such as Anima Eterna, Collegium Vocale, Vox Luminis, and Gli Angeli
Genève, Van den Borre also worked with Il Gardellino, as Artistic Coordinator and Director respectively.
Following her studies in cultural management, Jannah Van Nevel took her first steps in the
cultural sector at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen (OBV), where her affinity with classical music grew.
She then continued her career at the International Opera Academy, where she spent eight
years overseeing general coordination and managing business processes.
