Airchoir No. 2: Dirges for Coded Organ Voices
Audio, textiles and architecture come together in the work of the young sound artist Anouk Kellner. With the installation Airchoir No. 2: Dirges for Coded Organ Voices she brings a special instrument to life in the Koudenbergkerk. Several inflatable volumes breathe in and out like lungs. They make their voices heard via the organ pipes to which they are connected. Like a choir, these inflatables resonate and interfere with each other in space. Their programmed compositions sound different each time, depending on the position of the visitor. Kellner explores the boundaries between the organic and the inorganic, between human emotion, religion and electronics. Her poetic Airchoir embodies a familiar contemporary duality: the human desire for connection in a world full of technology.
