Patricia Kopatchinskaja & Fazil Say
Myths
Myths is the title of Karol Szymanowski's enchanting triptych for violin and piano, based on the mythological figures Narcissus, Pan and Arethusa. But the epithet could also be applied to the duo featured in this concert. When violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja and pianist Fazil Say come together, they always ignite the room. Indeed, they are cut from the same musical cloth. Just like Kopatchinskaja, who swears by spontaneity and adventure, Say learned to improvise from his very first teacher in Ankara.
Although both musicians can safely be called superstars today, they always remain close to their earliest source of inspiration: the magic of the creative process. In addition to Szymanowski's work and Beethoven's iconic Kreutzer Sonata, Kopatchinskaja and Say will each contribute their own composition to this concert.
