This year, for the first time, Klarafestival is working with a festival artist. This edition it is the Belgian tenor Reinoud Van Mechelen. He explores André Campra's Requiem in a concert with both his own ensemble a nocte temporis and the Choeur de Chambre de Namur and also sings Berlioz' song cycle Les nuits d'été accompanied by the Brussels Philharmonic.

Charpentier’s Te Deum & Campra’s Requiem
Festival artist Reinoud Van Mechelen - together with several soloists, his baroque ensemble a nocte temporis, and the Chamber Choir of Namur - presents not only two works by Charpentier (including the well-known Te Deum) but also a forgotten pearl from Baroque literature: the Requiem by the French composer André Campra.

Berlioz & Mendelssohn
Together with the Brussels Philharmonic and conducted by Thierry Fischer, festival artist Reinoud Van Mechelen will perform the song cycle Les nuits d'été by Hector Berlioz. The concert overture Le roi Lear by the same composer is also on the programme, along with Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream Suite.
