Ensembles redefining classical music

We are proud to announce the winners of this year's Supernova competition. Of the four ensembles, the jury selected Effel Quartet and Naka Quartet as the two laureates of Supernova 2026. Trio DEA received the €1,000 Supernova National Lottery Audience Award.

Congratulations to all the finalists - Duo Tiaire, Trio DEA, Effel Quartet and Naka Quartet - with their dazzling performances. Thanks to the enthusiastic audience and DE SINGEL for the warm welcome.

This victory comes with a tour of concerts in a series of Belgian venues and media attention from Klara and Musiq3. Both ensembles will kick off this tour during Klarafestival, with two laureates' concerts on 21 March.

Effel quartet on Klara

The day after their victory, Kristof Havasi and David Patyra of the Effel Quartet were interviewed on Klara. In the programme Music Matters, Olav Grondelaers spoke with them about the origins of their quartet and the intriguing story behind their name. Listen back to the full interview.
